Elizabeth Swann Costume: AMC Midnight Show Debut!

Posted by: Patti on: 28 May 2007

I don’t have a lot of time to write too much, I’ll come back and add some commentary. But for now… Pictures of the Elizabeth Swann Pirate King costume that I wore to Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End at Downtown Disney Pleasure Island AMC 24 (and a few other really awesome costumes). My friend Lacey is our Tia Dalma.

Here are pictures from our Pirate Party that we had on Saturday the 26th.

Oh man! I knew that there where more cameras out there than mine, but wow… those came out soooo much clearer than any of the photos that I’ve taken. Would I be able to use the images (of me at least) in my cosplay.com gallery? I’ll post a link back here so people will know who took the photos.
^_^

Yay! I was hoping I’d find you! We were so impressed with your costume. And then we read on the cosplay site that you made it without a sewing machine?! Did we read that right?! Of course you have permission to use any of my pictures, absolutely! I might even have more pics of you than what’s up on this site; if you’re interested I’ll do some digging.

I have to speak to you on behalf of Keep to the Code (http://www.keeptothecode.com). I don’t know if you’ve heard of it, but it’s the official Pirates messageboard. The cosplayers post under the “So You Want to be a Pirate” forum. We’d love it if you joined us there! Everyone’s been nagging me to invite you–your reputation has preceded you. :)

Hi, I’m from the UK, planning our 10th Wedding Anniversary Party which is Pirates of the Caribbean themed & was trawling through the web & found your stuff. Just wanted to say your costumes are all fantastic!!!!

My 7 year old wants an Elizabeth Swann Oriental costume (but not the play one from Disney apparently, way too childish! Kids!) & yours is just amazing, tough act to follow me thinks!

Well done & I’m so glad that there are others out there who are also freakishly excited about PTC, my friends think I’m nuts so it’s good to know I’m not on my own.

oh my goodness your costume is AMAZING!!! would you be able to make me one, and if so how much would it cost? This is the last time that my mom’s letting me dress up for halloween and it would be incredible if i could dress up as Elizabeth since im a HUGE pirates fan. If you could email me back if you would be able to make me one, that’d be great. thanks!!!

Oh you’ve got to let me know how you did that!

That costume looks really good. I just have one
question, how did you do the embroidery? by hand?
by machine? is it fake?
I’m making a costume for myself, only I’m going to
be an Elizabeth Turner Impersonator at parties and events. So I need to make it as best I can.
Please let me know asap.
Thank You
Jennifer

Embroidery is fake. I used gold rat tail cording which you can find at any craft shop that sells ribbon. I used about 30 ft. (or 10 yds.) of it. I detail my technique on my deviant art page: http://nezobiwan13.deviantart.com/art/Elizabeth-Swann-Pirate-King-55803063.

Read my comments on that page and eventually you’ll find the whole process. Thanks for your interest and please link me to a picture of your version of the costume when you’ve finished! :)
